With the shift toward big-money movies being distributed and screened in 3D and IMAX, one of the biggest frustrations for many hardcore cinemaphiles is that those films are often not shot in the format, but shot conventionally and then "upconverted."

Not so for Star Wars: Episode VII, which is being filmed in IMAX, Bad Robot confirmed today via Twitter.

You can see the camera above and the tweet below, filming what may be Tattooine (although all desert planets kind of look the same, so it's hard to be sure).

Star Wars: Episode VII is due in theaters in December 2015.
