Gibson and Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment are teaming up with the Geekie Awards for this year's show, being held August 17 in Hollywood. Last year, at the first ever Geekie awards, Lee was honored with a lifetime achievement award.

The Geekie Awards are intended to celebrate independent creative in the geek community. The ceremony will livestream on Twitch TV.

"This year, we were lucky to find brands that connected with and supported indie artists on every level, from helping us promote their work, to joining forces in creating an event so monumental, new talent will be seen worldwide," Kristen Nedopak, announced this morning. "Joining forces with Gibson was a logical choice, as the company has a history of supporting the creative arts, and many of our submissions to this year's award show heavily embraced music to propel their themes and stories. It's one of those elements that enhances every artistic venture—whether it be a film, a game, or a device artists use to inspire their work. We wanted to acknowledge that by joining together with Gibson."

"As a geek myself, it is a personal privilege to support The Geekie Awards.  As an enterprise, Gibson Brands is committed to creators and to bringing the fruits of their creative output to consumers, ensuring their creative work is reproduced in the most exceptional way with brands like Philips, Onkyo and TEAC.  It is innovation, passion, and technology that makes all our lives richer and better," stated Henry E. Juszkiewicz, CEO of Gibson Brands, Inc.

The Geekie Awards nominees will be announced July 14.
