Dark Horse this week announced the promotion of its former Director of Custom Projects, Nick McWhorter, to Vice President of Media Licensing.

McWhorter is in his 10th year at Dark Horse. Having graduated with a business degree from University of Oregon, McWhorter got his start working his way up through the product sales division. The company says he was instrumental in facilitating and building industry wide support to kick off Dark Horse Comics's licensed video game lines with BioWare's Mass Effect. To date, McWhorter has inked publishing deals with such notable properties as EVE, Halo, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Plants vs. Zombies, and oversaw the #1 Bestseller The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia.

"I'm very excited about this opportunity to help continue to build our licensed publishing lines and I look forward to our continued success as a leader in books based on entertainment licenses" McWhorter said.

"Nick has helped to bring a new vision to our licensed publishing line" said Dark Horse president, Mike Richardson. "We have now published multiple successful series based on prominent video game brands, as well as a line of impressive art books. I am pleased to see Nick expand his role in Dark Horse's overall licensing efforts into media of all kinds."

"Nick's hard work has continued to grow our already substantial footprint in the world of entertainment licensing" said Dark Horse executive vice president, Neil Hankerson. "He has helped Dark Horse achieve great success beyond traditional comics, with a growing line of art and lore books, as well as products based on popular video game properties. I am confident that his new role will only help to further solidify Dark Horse as the industry leader in licensed content."
