Oracle Teased For Arrow Season 3

The CW saved the biggest bombshell in the Arrow Season 3 panel at 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International for last.

At the very end of the panel, it was revealed that one of Season 3's episodes will focus on Felicity Smoak's backstory. The title of that episode will be "Oracle."

In the pre-New 52 world of DC Comics, Oracle was one of the aliases of Barbara Gordon, who also went by the name Batgirl at one time. Since the character of Barbara Gordon is likely off limits with FOX laying claim to most Batman-related characters in Gotham, Comicbook.com had previously reported on speculation that Felicity could step into the Oracle role.

Last year, when Marc Guggenheim was asked if Felicity might play a role in an Arrow Season 2 episode called "Birds of Prey," he replied, "She plays a role, but not in the way you're hoping. Hopefully we'll get there--that occurred to us as well but we didn't have an opportunity to do that in [Episode] 17."

Perhaps, Arrow Season 3 is when Felicity will "get there."
