Erik Burnham, whose long run on Ghostbusters is coming to a close soon, will launch a new Galaxy Quest series at IDW, the publisher announced today at Comic Con International: San Diego.

The series, based on the cult 1999 comedy starring Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver, will be drawn by Nacno Arranz.

Last year, Galaxy Quest -- a parody of Star Trek in which a group of actors from a popular and decades-old science fiction series are stolen away from a convention signing appearance to save the universe in a replica of their show's ship -- was voted the seventh-best Star Trek movie ever made by a group of fans.

"I'm going to play it like Ghostbusters," Burnham told CBR. "It's a comedy, but the universe they'll be in will be played straight. Yes, a cast member may make a snarky comment towards an alien; but also, yes, that alien could kill them."
