Marvel Studios Kevin Feige Says Female Thor And Black Captain America Are Options For The Movies Eventually

Marvel Comics recently announced the Avengers NOW! initiative. Part of this initiative is the introduction of a female Thor and Sam Wilson, the Falcon, taking over the mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers.

Some fans are likely wondering if these new spins on their favorite heroes could end up in a Marvel Studios film some day. Collider posed that question to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige at Comic-Con International.

"The option for us is adapting the comics," Feige said. "If we're able to make as many movies, over the years, as we hope we're able to make, I think we can pull from any of them. I think its more likely that we'll see some of the existing female characters from the books, or existing African-American characters, or African-African characters, from the books come to life before we swap some of the other heroes. But, if it becomes a classic, iconic storyline, that's what we want to make movies of."

Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth can't continue playing these physically intense roles forever. Perhaps showing other characters wearing these heroes' colors in the comics is a way of preparing audiences for the same eventuality in the films.
