An extended cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released onto Blu-ray and DVD sometime in 2015.

Fans of the film have been awaiting news of an extended cut of the film since it became known that an extended action sequence, featuring Rogue (played by Anna Paquin), had been cut from the film.

Director Bryan Singer had previously voiced his desire to see the sequence included, in some form, with the home media release of the film, and executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner has previously hinted that an extended cut of the film was in the works. The extended cut was finally confirmed as coming in 2015 in a tweet from Fox's Executive Vice President of Marketing Communications, James Finn.

Finn would only say that details would be coming "soon," but one has to assume that, at the least, Rogue's action sequence will be restored to its original place in the film.

Considering how well-received Days of Future Past was, this is surely a bit of welcome news for fans.

The theatrical cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past will come to Blu-ray and DVD October 14.
