Comics have once again dipped into the cast of Easy A to find somebody for their live-action adaptations: Aly Michalka has booked a recurring role on The CW's iZombie, Deadline reports.

Based on the Vertigo series by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred, Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas and Executive Producer Diane Ruggiero have reinvented iZombie as a supernatural crime procedural in which med student Olivia "Liv" Moore is seemingly killed, only to wake up as a functioning zombie who has to eat human brains in order to prevent herself from losing her humanity altogether. With each brain she eats, she gains access to some of the memories of the deceased, making her an ideal candidate to solve murders.

Michalka will play Peyton, Liv's best friend, a role which has been downgraded to recurring status. The character was originally meant to be a series regular, and was played by Alexandra Krosney in the pilot. When they decided to recast Krosney, they apparently downgraded the role as well.

At Comic Con International: San Diego, Warner Bros. Television declined to screen iZombie at their pilot screening party, saying that reshoots were pending and the pilot wasn't ready yet. Talking with reporters, Thomas and Ruggiero confirmed that they hoped to reshoot Peyton's scenes before the pilot went to air.
