Guardians of the Galaxy has officially claimed victory at the four-day Labor Day weekend box office.

Guardians brought in about #22.2 million domestically over the holiday weekend, bringing its domestic box office total to over $280 million. The film will likely reach $300 million in the U.S. before leaving theaters.

Guardians didn't really have much competition, with only two new films in theaters over the weekend, The November Man and As Above, So Below. Neither came close to touching Guardians' weekend gross, with The November Man brining in just $7.7 million, and As Above, So Below doing a bit better, with $8.3 million.

Labor Day weekend is traditionally slow at the box office, and this year was no different. As Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, so too does it mark the end of the "summer blockbuster season," with Guardians still sitting at the top.
