Guardians of the Galaxy female characters

An ongoing topic of conversation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about when new female superheroes will be introduced. In the first Avengers movie, Black Widow was the sole female member of the team. And in Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora is the only female member of that team.

The Avengers will soon be adding to their female ranks with the introduction of Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron. So will Guardians of the Galaxy 2 be upping their female ranks as well?

In a panel at Dragon Con (via Collider), Gunn addressed the possibility. Gunn indicated he plans to introduce new female characters into the Guardians of the Galaxy world as soon as he can. However, one of Marvel's most requested female superheroes won't be part of that plan.

Gunn indicated that he had no plans to include Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel in the Guardians of the Galaxy, because he wanted to avoid using any other earthlings besides Peter Quill. Of course, the even bigger reason for Gunn avoiding Captain Marvel is that someone else might have plans for her, as rumors have suggested she could be part of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Gunn reportedly acknowledged that Captain Marvel likely will appear sooner rather than later in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Which additional female characters would you like to see James Gunn include in Guardians of the Galaxy 2?
