‘Heroes’ Review: ‘Tabula Rasa’

October 19, 2009 · Posted in Heroes · 4 Comments

“Eh.”  That’ll be my answer tomorrow when people ask me about tonight’s ‘Heroes’ episode, entitled ‘Tabula Rasa.’  The storyline moved along, but nothing earth shattering happened.  It’s almost at the point where this show is running like a heart monitor.  Straight line for 2-3 episodes, then a ‘blip’ up for an exciting show.  This week, we’re back on the straight line. A Few Notes on ‘Heroes’

October 14, 2009 · Posted in Heroes · Comment

A lot of activity of the last couple of days regarding ‘Heroes’:

  • Todd Stashwick (’The Riches’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’) has landed a recurring role as one of the Carnies, according to THR.
  • The Hayden Panettiere/Madeline Zima kiss on Monday night’s show didn’t do anything to help ratings. Viewership stayed flat over the last week’s episode.
  • A major character is going to die this season, reports Eonline. It’s a male, and an original character.

Thoughts on who the producers might kill off?  We think the Hiro storyline is a red herring.  We’re thinking it’s time for Sylar to go.  He’ll turn good and save some people, only to lose his own life.  What do you think?

With ‘Acceptance’, ‘Heroes’ delivered one of its best character-driven shows in a long, long time.  Not plot-driven though–as the show continued to nudge along at a snails pace.

So here’s the quick recap, followed by some thoughts: Read more

Heroes Fourth Season Premiere

September 21, 2009 · Posted in Heroes, TV · Comment

Heroes is returning for a fourth season, and for many fans, it is a do or die year for Heroes. The series won rave reviews for its first season, but it has struggled in both critical reviews and ratings in subsequent seasons. Heroes is obviously an important show for NBC, as like ABC’s Lost, the show has huge potential to develop a very fanatical following.

Many unfortunately don’t start until mid-season so we’ve still got some time to wait.

Paging Zachary Quinto: It’s Time To Let Go Of Sylar

An open letter to Zachary Quinto:  You don’t know me, but I’m going to give you some helpful advice anyway.  You see, I just got back from seeing the new Star Trek film, and I absolutely loved it.  The story was great, the characters were interesting.  It just rocked.  Except one thing.

You.  While I did my best to pretend that the crazy hair, pointy ears and (even) bigger eyebrows really helped you to BE Spock, the problem is, I just kept seeing–and especially hearing–Sylar from Heroes.

Heroes Finale: Time To Hit The Reset Button

April 28, 2009 · Posted in Heroes, TV · 2 Comments

It’s time to hit the ‘reset’ button on Heroes.  Oh, I know, a few months ago the producers fired some writers.  Better stories are coming, they promised.  Well, they lied.  Instead of something fresh, something better, we got episode after episode of the same stuff.  As a result, this show has hit an all time low.
