Ant-Man Movie Now on Back Burner for Wright?
After previously saying that work on an Ant-Man movie was certainly a top priority, director Edgar Wright may be having a change of heart, and priorities. In speaking with Empire magazine, Wright mentioned that another project, one not based around an adaptation of a comic book or action figure franchise, may have taken his attention. Read more
Ant-Man Movie Still has Interest, at Least From Edgar Wright!
Edgar Wright has certainly made a name for himself by directing a fair share of films that appeal to certain genres, such as his work on Shaun of the Dead and the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which may help to explain his continued interest in working on a big screen adaptation of one of Marvel Comics’ earliest, and arguably more niche, comic book characters, Ant-Man. Thor Movie Release Date Changed Again
Marvel.com is showing that the release date for Marvel’s live action Thor movie has changed yet again. For the second time in as many weeks, Marvel Studios has changed the film’s release date. And for some, this should not come as a surprise.
Just last week, I reported that the Avengers film was to be pushed back to 2012, while the Thor movie was pushed back to 2011 and the Captain America movie was pushed back a couple months in 2011. The changes were done in an attempt to build up the anticipation for the first ever on-screen team up of Marvel’s greatest heroes. I also pointed out that since the release dates of the Thor movie was fairly close to the release date of Spider-Man 4 and The First Avenger: Captain America, Marvel would probably be moving the films again in order to rectify the scheduling overlap of the three films.
Thor, Captain America, And Avengers Movies Delayed
Marvel Studios has officially announced that the release dates for some of its upcoming self-produced feature films have been moved back to as far as 2012. As of now, Thor, a live action film about the famed Norse god of thunder, will hit theatres on June 17, 2011, eleven months after the film’s original release date.
Captain America’s big screen debut has been moved back two months. The First Avenger: Captain America is now scheduled for release on Jul 22, 2011. And in a move that is sure to anger quite a few fans, Marvel Studios has also pushed back the highly anticipated Avengers film. Those fans waiting for Marvel’s greatest superheroes to team up on the big screen for the first time must now wait another year. The Avengers movie is now scheduled for release on May 4, 2012.
Samuel L. Jackson Agrees To 9 Movie Deal With Marvel
Just last week, it seemed like Samuel L. Jackson was never going to don the black eye patch ever again. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the actor has agreed to a nine movie deal with Marvel Studios in which he will continue to play Col. Nick Fury for quite some time.
Details about the deal, which was signed late last week, are now becoming public. Jackson will reprise his role as the director of the secret ops organization S.H.I.E.L.D. in next year’s Iron Man sequel.
The Man of Steel May Cameo In The Green Lantern Film
DC Comics looks like it might be taking a page of out Marvel’s book if and when the Green Lantern film becomes a reality. In a recent interview, Marc Guggenheim, one of the film’s current screenwriters, reveals that the writing staff is trying to pack the film with tons of Easter Eggs. “Every time we sit down to write, we always ask, ‘What do the Fans want to see?’” Guggenheim told Wizard Magazine in the January 2009 Platinum issue.
While Guggenheim is staying quiet on many of the Easter Eggs, he does reveal that Superman will play a small role in one of them. “When the ring is spinning around the planet looking for a successor to Abin Sur, it passes a guy with glasses working at the Daily Planet,” he states. If the scene stays in the final version of the film, it will mark the first time that a major DC character has appeared in another superhero’s movie.
