For big screen comic book adaptations, fanboy word of mouth can be a double-edged sword. Everything is speculated on, from the possible casting of big-name celebs to play seminal villains or heroes right up to the possibilities of what might happen in the sequel. If there’s a hint of bad casting, constant script revisions or even the dreaded delay, a project can be dead in the water before the viral campaign can even begin.

Over on the ComicBook.com main page, you’ll see a link to a story that says there are 75 comic books that are on track to become movies. SEVENTY FIVE. The pendulum has swung to the other side, folks.

Anyone that follows comics would agree that the industry has been completely underrepresented in Hollywood the past couple of decades–from quantity to quality. “Spiderman” helped to change the perception that comic book movies were just for a set demographic. “Iron Man” showed that a comic book movie could be a great action movie–and tell a story. And “The Dark Knight” open the floodgates at the ticket counter by showing everyone that a comic book movie could be compelling and have a great story, along with plenty of action.
