Comic Book Previews for March 10th, 2010
Put down the shamrocks and mugs of green beer! It’s a little early to begin the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, so pick up the comic books coming at you at your local comic book store this week! The Superman books continue to ramp up the action, and this week makes no exception. After the conclusion of the World of New Krypton stories, this week’s Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton #1 kicks off a three-part miniseries that sees Brainiac attacking the planet, with a determined goal of recapturing the city of Kandor. It’s Zod, Supergirl, Superboy and more powered-up aliens all here for your entertainment! DON’T MISS THIS ONE EITHER! Green Lantern Corps #46 helps us wrap up the amazing events of Blackest Night. This one is a must-have issue! Heck, we can’t even show you the cover without giving it away, so you gotta run and pick this up! Justice League: The Rise and Fall Special also gives MORE story than you can stand this week, as a follow-up to the conclusion of last week’s Cry for Justice. Comic Book Previews for March 3rd, 2010
March isn’t the only thing that comes in like a lion, especially when you look at what comic books are on their way to your local store shelves this week! One of the biggest this week comes courtesy of Marvel, whose Girl Comics #1 kicks off a terrific new three-issue project, which will bring the mightiest female heroes of the Marvel universe written and illustrated by a powerhouse group of female talent! Stories with Mary Jane, the Invisible Woman, She-Hulk and more are promised as the series takes off here! Speaking of powerful, strong women, Fall of the Hulks: The Savage She-Hulks #1 is yours for the taking! Lyra, the Savage She-Hulk of another, violent world is here again, and what role does the Frightful Four play for her? Be there for the first issue of this mini-series! X-Men: Hope #1 begins the big tale of the potential savior of mutantkind, Hope Summers. Wait. Stop moving. What’s that sound? It sounds like the dropping and thudding of several large, major issues of comic books this week! Speaking of hammers, Marvel kicks things off with a major Siege tie-in this week in the pages of Thor #607. While all the fighting is going on in Asgard, what’s going on in the town of Broxton, Oklahoma, the town just below Asgard? Good questions, as several unexpected baddies and do-gooders arise in this issue! Another hot issue dealing with Siege this week is Thunderbolts #141, which sees Norman Osborn’s special team of black ops, the Thunderbolts, called to action in Asgard, only to find the Mighty Avengers smack in their way. You may be feeling a little post-Valentine’s bloat, brought on by candy, rich dinners or other delights. What better way to burn off some of those excess calories by walking, running or sprinting down to your local comic book shop for this week’s hot releases??! Marvel kicks things off this week with a couple of biggies! First up is the long-awaited Doomwar #1. His assault on the land of Wakanda fully underway, Dr. Doom kicks things into high gear against TWO Black Panthers, the Fantastic Four, and innumerable X-Men! Can they stop his global threat? Well boys and girls, men and women, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but before you go crazy on flowers, chocolate and candles, stop by your local comic book store and pick up these new releases! Heck, they’ll be around a lot longer than the candy and flowers will! Let’s dive right in, starting with what Marvel has in store for us this week. There’s no love lost between Spider-Man and Mysterio in Amazing Spider-Man #620 this week, as it’s mobsters, Mysterio and mayhem! Can Spidey stop his classic for and Mr. Negative before things really get out of hand? Speaking of battles with a classic foe, Vengeance of Moon Knight #5 this week has Moon Knight taking on Scarecrow, all in buildup to his showdown with a guy who just. won’t. stay. gone. None other than Bushman! Like your adventures with a little less fists and kicks? How about some gentle pawing? Comic Book Previews for February 3, 2010
Well fair comic book readers, the start of another month also brings a major conclusion to a recent comic book event! Superman: World of New Krypton #12 marks the end of this interesting new DC story, which focuses on Superman’s departure from Earth to live amongst his people on New Krypton. This final issue will show us what happens to this world that seems on the verge of destruction, and how does all this feed into the upcoming “War of the Supermen” story, which will tie-in all the “super” books? Be here as one major event ends and another soon begins! Also, would it be a week in the DC universe without Blackest Night? Of course not! That’s why this week sees the release of two major tie-ins to the company event. Blackest Night: Wonder Woman #3 brings this mini to a close and over in The Question #37, another special one-off return issue of past DC titles, it’s new Question vs. Black Lantern Question! And what does Lady Shiva have to do with all this? Be there as Renee Montoya has to confront her former partner and mentor, with a deadly Batman villain thrown in for good measure! Read more

We’re back for another week of stunning comic book action and this week is a BIG one!!! Leading off the week of big releases is the final, yes the FINAL issue of Kick-Ass, the Mark Millar-penned series featuring the adventures of an everyman (boy) making a name for himself in the superhero realm! Kick-Ass #8 will bring it all to a close, and just how will the series top itself, considering all the violence, action and shocks it’s delivered so far? You’ll have to pick it up to find out! Speaking of finales, another big one comes from Marvel as well this week with Captain America: Reborn #6 bringing to a close the battle for the body and mind of Steve Rogers! We’re diving right in this week, as we’ve got several big, exciting, bold and fresh stories and titles for you to rush out and get this Wednesday when all the new comic book goodies arrive in stores! DC Comics leads us off this week and our first stop is a look at the pages of Green Lantern Corps #44 as Red Lantern Guy Gardner, yep, you read that right, goes into his full on rage in this issue, a tie-in to Blackest Night! The Flash has lots of deceased enemies, a fact that comes screaming back into the forefront this week, as Blackest Night: The Flash #2 drops. How many Rogues will return in this issue to make life difficult for not only Flash, but the surviving Rogues as well, specifically Captain Cold! The Atom attempts to do something that many have tried but few have dared or succeeded in: enter the mind of The Joker! He does that in this week’s intriguing The Brave and the Bold #31. Another week, another set of new comic books for us all to drool over (ok maybe not over but around perhaps?). We kick things off this week with Marvel, which continues to put Peter Parker through more villainy and mayhem with none other than The Rhino, one of the most hard-headed bad guys he’s ever faced!
