Deadpool Features Sold Out Cover

August 14, 2009 · Posted in Deadpool, Marvel Comics · Comment

Marvel Comics, which is celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year, has announced second printings for many of its recent comics. Now, Marvel has announced that Deadpool #12 has sold out at distribution and will also be getting a second printing. What’s unusual about this second printing is that the cover variant actually contains the words “Sold Out Again.”

Marvel Comics also issued a press release, which contained a humorous quote from Deadpool himself. According to the press release, Deadpool said “I hope someone is going to reimburse me for all the bullets I have to waste after appearing in second printings for every one of my books in 2009!”

Deadpool #12 is by writer Daniel Way with art by Paco Medina. The issue features a killer bout between Dark Avenger Bullseye and hot-shot merc Deadpool.

Ryan Reynolds Gets The Green Light As Green Lantern

July 11, 2009 · Posted in Green Lantern movie, Movies · 1 Comment

According to Variety, Ryan Reynolds has landed the coveted role of DC Comics’ Green Lantern. Previous reports had Reynolds competing for the role against a former boy band member and one of the stars from The Hangover.

Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to comic book movies, but the Green Lantern movie looks to be his biggest role yet. Interestingly enough, Ryan Reynolds’ previous comic book roles have all involved characters from DC Comics competitor Marvel Comics. Reynolds played the role of Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity, and he also played the role of Deadpool in the recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie.

No Point of Origin: X-Men Movies We Don’t Need

X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicked open the door to the summer movie season, raking in huge dollar amounts, but not necessarily rave critical reviews. With word of a Deadpool film in the supposed works, and an origin film of Magneto already in development, can it be safe that say that a wave of these origin films and spinoffs will follow?

Why A Deadpool Movie Is A Bad Idea

Now that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a certified box office hit, despite mixed critical reviews, talk has quickly moved to a spin-off film, using Deadpool as the central character and focus. Ryan Reynolds has reportedly already signed on to reprise his role of Wade Wilson, the merc with a mouth, from Wolverine.

There are several reasons why the words above should never exist in their current order. One primary reason is his use in the Wolverine film. Given the amount of hype surrounding his big screen debut, Deadpool is only on screen, in fully realized Ryan Reynolds form, for perhaps ten minutes total. As the mouthless killer at the end, he has a few more scenes, although the name Deadpool in this case is used as a term for the “pool” of mutant powers he now possesses as a killing machine.

Wolverine’s Muddled Origin: A Review of X-Men Origins Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Buildup for X-Men Origins: Wolverine probably started with the first X-Men film, long before any official plans were announced a few years ago. After seeing Hugh Jackman’s convincing portrayal of the widely popular Marvel loner, who could blame people for wanting a film centered around this enigmatic figure with the adamantium claws? All the trailers promising appearances by several major and supporting characters in the X-Men universe has led up to May 1, 2009, Wolverine’s official release date. That being said, how does it perform?

Ryan Reynolds Discusses The Possiblity Of A Deadpool Spin-off

April 30, 2009 · Posted in Movies, Wolverine, X-Men Origins: Wolverine Movie · Comment

On the eve of the Wolverine movie’s debut in theatres, actor Ryan Reynolds talked with MTV News to discuss the possibility of a Deadpool movie. According to the star, if he had his way, the Deadpool movie would be an R-rated musical with very crude undertones.

Though Reynolds’ tongue is firmly in cheek with his analogy, when it comes to the Merc with a Mouth, the actor may be on to something. “You definitely have to break the fourth wall and you have to find a way to make that make sense, which is no small feat. So it would involve a really talented writer, an amazing visionary director and I think a great collaboration between everybody passionate about this character,” Reynolds told MTV.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Who Else is in The Movie? Part Two

In my previous article, I covered four characters appearing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine who may or may not be readily familiar to those used to seeing four-color adventures play out only on the big screen. In our attempts to always be a servant of the public, here are four more characters and their portrayers from this spring’s sure-to-be blockbuster film.

Deadpool - Another graduate of the Weapon X school, Wade Wilson became the wise-cracking Deadpool, a mercenary with accelerated healing, super-strength, hyper fighting ability and teleportation to boot. He began in the pages of The New Mutants and quickly found himself at odds with Cable, but eventually joined him on several missions. Since then he’s made various appearances across the Marvel universe, and has become one of the most popular anti-heroes that exist. How he will be shown in the film remains to be seen. Deadpool will be played by Ryan Reynolds.
