Image Comics the new Home for Hack/Slash
Some big news from the Emerald City Comic-Con this weekend! Tim Seeley, the creator of the increasingly popular comic book Hack/Slash announced that he is making the move from Devil’s Due Publishing to Image Comics, the largest company featuring creator-owned content. Seeley has stated that Devil’s Due has agreed to the transition, and that June will see the release of the first new book in the Hack/Slash line of materials. Read more
Hack/Slash Movie gets new Screenwriter
Devil’s Due Publishing’s heroine Cassie Hack is slowly making her way to the big screen, and the latest news on the developing story brings a new writer to the story of her battle against monsters and killers! It’s been announced that Stephen Susco will handle duties for the script, joining first-time major film director Fredrick Bond in the journey to the big screen. Susco is not a stranger to the horror genre, as he is also writing The Butcherhouse Chronicles for Paramount along with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D for Twisted Pictures. Read more
Barack the Barbarian #1 is a Hilarious Adventure!
In addition to solving our economic crisis, negotiating peace and understanding around the world and trying to improve our image overseas, President Barack Obama, or his beefed up likeness at least, is adding another duty to his agenda, thanks to Devil’s Due Publishing, who has him starring in the Larry Hama written Barack the Barbarian, a mini-series debuting this week. The storytelling possibilities are wide-open with a title such as this. So how do Hama and company fare with Barack’s first outing as a loincloth wearing adventurer? Surprisingly well!
Comic Book Releases for June 24, 2009! Major Events!
What a Wednesday! With a few new titles, some big events, and other major releases happening today, the last shipment of comics for June promises to keep comic book readers busy for quite awhile! Now that the full swing of summer is here, expect to see more big waves of releases coming throughout the summer months (as previewed right here, and here, and here at comicbook.com a couple of weeks ago *nudge, nudge*
DC Comics has a couple of big things dropping into comic book stores today, mainly in the Batman universe. Gotham City Sirens (cover seen above) spreads its wings and flies today, focusing mostly on the actions of Poison Ivy, Catwoman and Harley Quinn. Perhaps we’ll see some guest appearances from another DC female, as Batwoman takes over main player status in the pages of Detective Comics with issue 854’s release today. Wrapping up today is the Sgt. Rock mini-series Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion concluding with issue number six. Read more
