Fantastic Five: First Five Avengers for Relaunch Fully Revealed!

Over the past week, Marvel has been slowly revealing the first five members of its highly-anticipated relaunch of the Avengers series, which will be in the highly capable, talented hands of Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita Jr.  Now, the dust has settled, the teasers have been shown, and now we know the first five characters who will make up the new team.  So far, it appears to be an interesting mix of the classic team lineup and a bridge to characters of the past few years!  As we see here, Thor will be in the lineup!  It’s going to be interesting to see how he overcomes the current events of Siege to make his return to the team that he helped to found!  The artwork featured gives us a great tease as to what’s to come, and just what sort of stance we can expect from our heroes as we enter a new era and age in Marvel Comics!  Let’s see who else will be joining the Asgardian god!

Marvel Announces Spider-Man And Super Heroes All Ages Series

Who says comic books aren’t for kids anymore? While the majority of modern day comic books target older readers, Marvel Comics is doing their part to bring in new comic book readers. Marvel has announced two new ongoing all ages series.

The two new titles are part of the Marvel Adventures line. Spider-Man #1 and Super Heroes #1 will launch with oversized debut issues. Both premiere issues will be packed with full length all-new stories and bonus back up stories and will retail for $3.99. Both issues are scheduled to arrive in comic book stores in April. Later issues will be regular sized and priced at $2.99.

Stark Disassembled Iron Man Wraparound Cover Revealed

Marvel Comics has revealed the wraparound cover for Invincible Iron Man #20. The wraparound cover is by Patrick Zircher. Invincible Iron Man #20 is the beginning of the eagerly anticipated “Stark: Disassembled” storyline.

Iron Man 2 Viral Campaign Responds To Applications

Comicbook.com recently reported on the new viral marketing campaign for the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 movie. On the website StarkIndustriesNow.com, fans can submit an application to join Stark Industries (the company run by Iron Man alter ego Tony Stark).

Iron Man 2 Movie Viral Campaign Already Underway

With a May 7, 2010 release date, Iron Man 2 is still over nine months away, but the online viral campaign to support the movie is already underway.  A big part of the success of the original Iron Man movie was the online buzz that the movie received after the trailer premiered at Comic-Con.

Director Jon Favreau is no dummy, and he has actively been catering to both comic book fans and the online audience to build the buzz for the second movie.  For the last several months, Favreau has been updating twitter fans with teasers about the Iron Man 2 movie.  Favreau also returned to Comic-Con in 2009 with a host of celebrities from the movie and actively acknowledged the role that Comic-Con attendees helped to play in the success of the first movie.

Marvel Heroes: Appearing at a Hallmark Store Near You?

Proving that there are still new and unexplored markets, Marvel has announced a partnership with Hallmark.  Yes, Hallmark, the well-known greeting card company has entered into a licensing deal with Marvel to produce greeting cards, special occasion products, party items and other celebratory materials.  According to the official announcement, the deal would, “Encompass a wide range of social expression products, including electronic and mobile greetings, as well as Crayola arts and crafts products.” Read more

Ant-Man Movie Still has Interest, at Least From Edgar Wright!

Edgar Wright has certainly made a name for himself by directing a fair share of films that appeal to certain genres, such as his work on Shaun of the Dead and the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which may help to explain his continued interest in working on a big screen adaptation of one of Marvel Comics’ earliest, and arguably more niche, comic book characters, Ant-Man. The Dark Knight Storms Annual Saturn Awards

Adding more awards to an already impressive list, The Dark Knight lay claim to five more in last night’s Saturn Awards, the annual ceremony put on by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films.  While the Academy Awards may have announced that the DC Comics’ hero’s portrayal played a part in their decision to expand the Best Picture category from five to ten nominees in the coming years, the Saturn Awards richly awarded The Dark Knight in several main categories.
