HeroesCon News! Marvel’s Dark Reign Panel
HeroesCon hosted another Marvel panel on Saturday, focusing on the highly successful and intriguing Dark Reign storylines that show no signs of slowing down. Marvel talent scout C.B. Cebulski once again helmed the discussion, with Marvel editor Jeanine Schaefer, Jonathan Hickman (Secret Warriors), Brian Michael Bendis (Dark Avengers, New Avengers) and Matt Fraction (X-Men/Dark Avengers) on hand to answer questions and make announcements about upcoming events and happenings with Dark Reign.
Starting with a question and answer period, one fan asked about the tendency of Marvel to pose questions for their story lines, such as the “who’s side are you on” question for Civil War. Would there be a similar question to go along with this next arc of Dark Reign? The answer seems to be the one on everyone’s mind, and Matt Fraction said it best, “when will Norman Osborn lose his $#!*”. Good question! Read more
Spider-Woman Zaps Into Theaters? Make It So Marvel!
The pulling of hair, gnashing of teeth and banging of heads against rocks have probably been common expressions of frustration from fans, writers, producers and studio heads over the on and off again Wonder Woman feature film. Iron Man 2 Production Begins: Rourke Does Not Disappoint
According to Director Jon Favreau’s twitter account, production for the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 movie began on Monday, April 6. That means Robert Downey Jr. is suiting up into the ole Red and Gold, Gwyneth Paltrow is getting into a power suit and setting up appointments as Pepper Potts, and Terrence Howard is at home wondering why Don Cheadle is playing Jim Rhodes instead of him.
Also starring in the cast are Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson. The duo will play Russian villains The Crimson Dynamo and Black Widow. Sam Rockwell will be on hand to play Tony Stark rival, Justin Hammer. According to a twitter post by Jon Favreau about Mickey Rourke’s first day on the set, “Rourke does not disappoint.”
Samuel L. Jackson Agrees To 9 Movie Deal With Marvel
Just last week, it seemed like Samuel L. Jackson was never going to don the black eye patch ever again. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the actor has agreed to a nine movie deal with Marvel Studios in which he will continue to play Col. Nick Fury for quite some time.
Details about the deal, which was signed late last week, are now becoming public. Jackson will reprise his role as the director of the secret ops organization S.H.I.E.L.D. in next year’s Iron Man sequel.
Marvel Hath No Fury: Who Should Replace Samuel L. Jackson?
With the highly likely prospect that Samuel L. Jackson will not be returning to the much-ballyhooed role of Nick Fury in various Marvel movies, it’s now time to cast that wide net of speculation as to who could replace him in future representations. With the Ultimate Marvel version of Nick Fury having a basis in Samuel L. Jackson’s appearance and swagger, a recasting process will be interesting, as it could be a case of the tail wagging the dog. Would Marvel reconfigure Nick Fury for the Ultimate universe, based on what happens with casting, or would they simply continue on? Will Marvel films revert to the Nick Fury of the Marvel 616 Universe? Who can say, but after all, isn’t that the fun of speculation?
Speaking of speculation, let’s move on to possible and plausible suggestions for replacements for the great bald one.
