‘Iron Man 2′ Leaked Footage
For those of you that weren’t able to attend the Iron Man panel at Comic-Con, you’re in luck. The five minute clip that Director Jon Favreau showed the audience has now been leaked online. The clip features Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle, and Garry Shandling.
Typically, clips like this get shut down IMMEDIATELY. However, Favreau Twittered about the leak, saying:
“Thanks for all the encouraging feedback. Will let you know if/when official clean version goes up.”
We’ve said it many times–Favreau is a marketing GENIUS. We wouldn’t be surprised if the Director is somehow behind the leak. He knows how to keep ‘em coming back–wanting more.

New ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Trailer is Online
The official trailer for ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is out. The film, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson, centers on the duo attempting to stop a villain whose objective is to destroy England.
Based on this trailer, this isn’t your grandfather’s Sherlock Holmes. Downey’s version appears to have some MMA skills, including some experience with nunchuck-like weapons.
Sherlock Holmes is set for U.S. release on December 25, 2009.
Will Iron Man 2 Face Bad Karma?
Can’t wait until 2010 for a slew of heart-pounding Iron Man 2 battles? Well, wait no more Marvel fans, as a real-life battle of words is about to begin between War Machine and Iron Man. In an interview with Parade.com, actor Terrence Howard spoke out about Marvel’s decision to replace him with Don Cheadle in the role of Jim Rhodes. “Marvel made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice,” Howard said. “They didn’t keep their word. They didn’t honor my contract.”
According to Howard, Marvel Studios wasn’t in a very sharing mood when it came to the film’s $318 million gross ticket sales. For unspecified reasons, except for what Howard hints at as greed, the producers did not share profits with him, as well as several other members of the Iron Man cast, including actress Gwyneth Paltrow. According to Howard, the only actor who received a share was Robert Downey Jr., who played the title role. Howard called Downey out, saying “One of the things that actors need to learn to do is always stick together, one for all and all for one.”
Robert Downey Jr. Taking Iron Man 2 Seriously
In an interview with Collider, actor Robert Downey Jr. spoke about the challenges that he and the cast of Iron Man 2 face in filming the sequel. Downey spoke during a roundtable discussion for his latest film, “The Soloist.” While participating in the discussion, the actor told reporters that since he had never filmed a sequel before in his long career, he is feeling the pressure not to disappoint the fan base he built up from playing the lead role in the first Iron Man movie. “So I actually have taken ‘Iron Man 2’ probably more seriously than any movie I’ve ever done, which is appropriately ridiculous for Hollywood,” Downey confessed.
Downey also spoke about the sequel’s storyline, which he described as “incredibly risky.” Along with massive improvements to the film’s sets, Downey says that the cast of Iron Man 2 and the film’s themes have been beefed up. The actor went on to warn fans to be ready for a big genre movie that is very artistic. “We really, I think, leaving ourselves open to…we’re kind of trying to tell a story about how a dysfunctional family saves life on Earth as we know it.”
Iron Man 2 Production Begins: Rourke Does Not Disappoint
According to Director Jon Favreau’s twitter account, production for the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 movie began on Monday, April 6. That means Robert Downey Jr. is suiting up into the ole Red and Gold, Gwyneth Paltrow is getting into a power suit and setting up appointments as Pepper Potts, and Terrence Howard is at home wondering why Don Cheadle is playing Jim Rhodes instead of him.
Also starring in the cast are Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson. The duo will play Russian villains The Crimson Dynamo and Black Widow. Sam Rockwell will be on hand to play Tony Stark rival, Justin Hammer. According to a twitter post by Jon Favreau about Mickey Rourke’s first day on the set, “Rourke does not disappoint.”
Mickey Rourke And Scarlett Johansson Take Iron Man 2 Roles
Variety is reporting that after several weeks of speculation, actor Mickey Rourke will indeed star in the forthcoming Iron Man sequel. Reportedly, Rourke was dissatisfied with Marvel Studios’ initial offer of $250,000 to play an Iron Man villain and the deal at first fell through.
During this time, director Jon Favreau remained hopeful to snag the veteran actor. Even Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., got involved in the actor’s recruitment. Taking a page out of The Avengers, Downey invited Rourke to join the cast of Iron Man 2 during a roundtable interview with Newsweek’s David Ansen. Sources claim that Downey’s candor sealed the deal with Rourke, who in turn agreed to salary terms with Marvel.
Top 10 Comic Book Movie Actors
Heath Ledger posthumously won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight. However, did Heath Ledger give the best performance of all time in a comic book movie? Looking back at the various comic book movies over the years, we’ve developed our ranking of the best comic book movie actors ever.
Just to be clear however, before someone points out that we forgot about actors in The Road to Perdition or A History of Violence, we limited our selection to superhero based comic book movies. Also, we feel we should note a couple of actors that just barely missed making our top 10. In Hellboy, Ron Perlman took a character that previously seemed unimaginable in a movie and made him real. If there is anyone that we feel really guilty about leaving off the top 10 list, then it is him. We just couldn’t think of who else to bump off.
Should Robert Downey, Jr. Get Best Actor Nomination For Iron Man?
When Iron Man first hit movie theaters this past summer, there was much buzz about the possibility of Robert Downey, Jr. getting an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. The argument was that it was about time that the Academy Award recognized a comic book movie, and Robert Downey, Jr. had just given the best performance by an actor in a comic book movie ever.
Then, The Dark Knight premiered in movie theaters and instantly took over all the comic book movie Oscar buzz. Robert Downey, Jr.’s time as the best actor ever in a comic book movie had been a short reign, as Heath Ledger quickly became the new king. Now, with Ledger almost certain to get a posthumous nod for Best Supporting Actor for his riveting performance as The Joker, it’s almost as if he has filled the quota for comic book movie actors.
