Spawn And Cerebus Story Finally Gets Reprinted

December 12, 2009 · Posted in Image Comics, Spawn · 1 Comment

Most of the early Spawn stories have been reprinted, but Spawn #10 has never been reprinted, that is until now. After over fifteen years, one of the most unusual crossover comic books ever is finally returning to print.

Spawn #10 featuring a crossover between Todd McFarlane’s Spawn and Dave Sim’s Cerebus will be reprinted in the upcoming Spawn Origins Collection: Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 Hardcover.

“It hasn’t been reprinted since it first came out,” Spawn #10 writer and Cerebus creator Dave Sim said. “I’m very glad that’s all over with after 14 years. Todd sent me black and white scans of Spawn 10 which will be published in a Cerebus Miscellany volume someday and, hopefully, Spawn 10 will be included in any and all future collections if the Toddmiester decides to make that official McFarlane policy.”

Spawn Engame Is Selling Out

May 15, 2009 · Posted in Image Comics, Spawn · Comment

Todd McFarlane’s Spawn series is hot again.  The Spawn saga was recently relaunched by series creator Todd McFarlane and fellow Image Founder Whilce Portacio.  The relaunch storyline called “Endgame” is now at its halfway point and the latest issue was a distribution-level sell out.

“Our goal is to slowly build up momentum and the sellout of issue #191 is another indication that we’re accomplishing that goal,” McFarlane said. “With a majority of our single issues out of print, the release of the first Endgame collection couldn’t be more timely.”

“Endgame” has seen the original Hellspawn, Al Simmons, end his life as the amnesiac Patient 47 awakens with Al’s powers.  Also, new horrors and allies have come into play with familiar faces, including Al’s widow, Wanda and his nemesis, The Violator.

Top Ten Comic Book Character Deaths Of 2008

December 31, 2008 · Posted in Batman, Comic Book Deaths, DC Comics, Image Comics, Marvel Comics, Spawn · 8 Comments

The year 2008 will go down as a banner year for killing off comic book characters.  Perhaps inspired by the wonderful press coverage that Marvel received when they put a bullet in Captain America last year, DC Comics in particular really let the hatchet fly quick and hard this year.

While none of the deaths seemed to generate quite as much media coverage as Captain America’s death, 2008 was impressive for the sheer quantity of second tier characters killed.  There was one death that had the potential to be bigger than Captain America’s death, but the comic publisher readily admitted the character was going to return, so the media coverage quickly died down.

No one was immune from death in 2008 from Justice Leaguers to Avengers to New Gods to Super Friends.  Some were killed in a crisis or an invasion, while others fell victim to heart attacks or mad Wonderdogs.  Without further ado, here is our list of the top ten comic book character deaths in 2008.
