Spider-Man 4: No More! Raimi and Maguire Out!
And things seemed to be working themselves out. News today that hit harder than a punch from Venom, the planned follow-up to Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man 4, will NOT in fact be made, not with the current director, Sam Raimi, or franchise anchor Toby Maguire. Multiple news sources began reporting that Raimi, who had been in disputes with the forces at Sony over the creative direction of the series going back to the last film, walked away from the project. Pressure to meet a 2012 release deadline have been said to be a factor in the decision for Raimi’s split as well, especially with tension over the script. That’s not the only big news that Sony laid out concerning the wall-crawler! Read more
Spider-Man 4 Clashes Lead to Pushed Back Release!
It appears that the battles Spider-Man gets involved in don’t just happen on the big screen! Originally slated for a May 6, 2011 release Spider-Man 4 is now in limbo due to some very intense creative differences. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Sam Raimi is at odds with Sony over who to choose as the main villain in the upcoming and highly-anticipated release of the multiple-blockbuster franchise. Differences between the two were originally rumored back in December, but Sony denied the rumors, saying that script tweaking was a natural process in the creation of a film. Sony has wanted the villain of the film to be female burglar The Black Cat, to not only serve as an antagonist in addition to another villain, but to help with a romantic sub-plot. Read more
The Latest ‘Spider-Man 4′ Casting Rumor: Anne Hathaway
Okay, now we’re getting somewhere. It appears the crazy, bad casting rumors for ‘Spider-Man 4′ (Eddie Murphy, anyone?) are quickly being replaced by better choices.
The latest rumor: Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Get Smart) has been approached by the film’s producers to star in the film, according to Nikke Finke’s Deadline Hollywood. Finke wasn’t sure which role Hathaway might be up for, but the logical assumption is Black Cat.
We would have been plenty happy with the previous rumor of Rachel McAdams as The Black Cat, but if Sony Pictures wants to bring on Anne Hathaway, we’re more than happy.

Well, the collective holding of breath is over! Fantastic Four to get Film Overhaul
There was something in the water that said this might happen. After some tentative speculation, rumors of a relaunch of the Fantastic Four film series are confirmed. According to Variety, 20th Century Fox will re-boot the two-film series, and it’s unclear at this time if any of the actors and actresses who starred in the first two films, Ioan Gruffud, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, and Michael Chiklis specifically, will reprise their roles in the new series. Based on the announcement of the new creative talent behind the film, it is perhaps highly unlikely. Read more

Spider-Man 4: Bring on the Big Bad Villains!

Kirsten Dunst On Board for ‘Spider-Man 4, Kingpin the new villain?
She’s in. She’s out. It seems as if Kirsten Dunst’s status for ‘Spider-Man 4′ changes on a weekly basis. Until now.
According to the NY Post, Dunst is ‘definitely’ on board for the fourth installment of the franchise. This confirmation comes from producer Todd Black, although the Post didn’t use direct quotes. Call us skeptical.
Black also shed light on a possible villain for the upcoming film:
“We’re just coming up with who the villain’s going to be now. We’ll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it’ll be a big part of New York.”
The Post is thinking it’s the Kingpin, but we’re not so sure. More on that later.
Thor Movie Release Date Changed Again
Marvel.com is showing that the release date for Marvel’s live action Thor movie has changed yet again. For the second time in as many weeks, Marvel Studios has changed the film’s release date. And for some, this should not come as a surprise.
Just last week, I reported that the Avengers film was to be pushed back to 2012, while the Thor movie was pushed back to 2011 and the Captain America movie was pushed back a couple months in 2011. The changes were done in an attempt to build up the anticipation for the first ever on-screen team up of Marvel’s greatest heroes. I also pointed out that since the release dates of the Thor movie was fairly close to the release date of Spider-Man 4 and The First Avenger: Captain America, Marvel would probably be moving the films again in order to rectify the scheduling overlap of the three films.
Thor, Captain America, And Avengers Movies Delayed
Marvel Studios has officially announced that the release dates for some of its upcoming self-produced feature films have been moved back to as far as 2012. As of now, Thor, a live action film about the famed Norse god of thunder, will hit theatres on June 17, 2011, eleven months after the film’s original release date.
Captain America’s big screen debut has been moved back two months. The First Avenger: Captain America is now scheduled for release on Jul 22, 2011. And in a move that is sure to anger quite a few fans, Marvel Studios has also pushed back the highly anticipated Avengers film. Those fans waiting for Marvel’s greatest superheroes to team up on the big screen for the first time must now wait another year. The Avengers movie is now scheduled for release on May 4, 2012.
