After bringing dignity and gravity to the flagging Batman franchise, star director Christopher Nolan has officially spilled the beans to the Los Angeles Times in an interview he gave earlier that he will in fact be an integral part of a reboot of the Superman film franchise, which has itself seen a slump since the 2006 Superman Returns, which was met with a mixed reaction from critics and fans alike.  Ever since star Brandon Routh’s contract wasn’t renewed to wear the tights and cape again, rumors have swirled about when and with whom the next Superman film would come.   Read more

Superstar comic book writer J. Michael Straczynski is going to run out of hands.  Already having tackled titles such as  Amazing Spider-Man and The Brave and the Bold over the course of his career, JMS will take over writing duties on two of DC Comics’ flagship characters: Superman and Wonder Woman.  Coming on the heels of the recently announced shocker that Gail Simone would be exiting her writing duties on Wonder Woman after the soon-to-be-renumbered Wonder Woman #600, news that Straczynski was taking over served to verify excitement Simone mentioned over the next writer in her open letter to Comic Book Resources explaining her exit. Action Comics #1 Sale Breaks Record For Collector Site

February 22, 2010 · Posted in Superman · Comment

Monday was certainly a super day for comic book collectors, a couple of comic book salesmen, and one lucky anonymous seller!  It was on this day, February 22, 2010, that Vincent Zurzolo and Stephen Fishler, co-owners of the auction site ComicConnect.com, sold one of the biggest prizes in all of comics.  A rare copy of Action Comics #1, the first appearance of iconic hero Superman, went on sale, fetching a one million dollar price tag.  The 1938 debut issue of the Man of Steel is such an important one because of the debut of arguably the most recognizable pop cultures figures ever, and even more importantly because there are only about 100 copies of this book known in existence.  This copy, sold in 8.0 (Very Fine) condition, was put up for sale by an anonymous seller with another unknown buyer snapping the book up.
