Sinister Spider-Man #1 = Slightly Silly Story

Marvel had a big week this week, releasing several new limited series as part of their overall Dark Reign story line.  Perhaps too much of a good thing can only explain the silliness that is Sinister Spider-Man #1.  Focusing on Venom AKA Spider-Man, this mercifully four-issue series will follow Mac Gargan, the man formerly known as the Scorpion who now wears the symbiote once housed by Eddie Brock, the man most people associate with the character of Venom, as he cavorts around New York on his own, apparently, hilarious misadventures.

Spider-Man 4: Bring on the Big Bad Villains!

Now that Spider-Man 4 is a go and the main actors seem to be getting on board, the next logical step is to announce/leak/identify/speculate on who the villain or villains may be for this next installment of Peter Parker’s growing role as the hero he’s striving to become. Six Exciting Additions To Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

With recent announcements about who will make up the roster of the highly anticipated Marvel Ultimate Alliance sequel, MUA 2: Fusion, gamers everywhere are drooling for its fall 2009 release. Included are the standard characters from the first game, all of the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and of course, Captain America and Iron Man. These last two characters will form the crux of the storyline for this game, as it picks up after the concluding events of the first game.

Top 10 Costume-Dependent Comic Book Characters

For most villains and heroes, the costume is the final, outward piece of their mission and who they are as that alter ego. It sends a message. For characters like Batman, it’s a symbol of the fear they hope to spread. Superman’s cape and colors add a layer of anonymity in his mission for justice. Others, though, are not so fortunate when it comes to otherworldly gifts or perfectly trained bodies. Here then are those 10 comic book characters who probably wouldn’t make it without the gear and getup.

1. Tony Stark (Iron Man) - Billionaire he may be, Tony Stark is no sleek detective, telekinetic or shape-shifter. Charming and intelligent are certainly two of his strengths, but Iron Man’s armor will always be what allows him to fly, fire repulsor beams and shoot down deadly warheads from various points. Marvel has done an effective job in establishing Tony Stark as a vital and powerful character outside of his super-powered counterpart, but the Iron Man suit will be what makes him the next level of superhero.
