Things have gone downhill quickly in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, as the Rangers find themselves with few surviving allies against an increasing army under Lord
Spoilers incoming for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #15, so if you haven't read it you've been warned.
When the Rangers' enemies were able to teleport into their headquarters, it didn't just affect the Rangers. They also lost their mentor and guide Zordon, and his whereabouts have been unknown ever since. The mystery has been revealed in the latest issue, and it's not just a matter of when, but where. Most know Zordon as the big face in a tube, but he's actually located in a time warp. His presence is tethered to the containment unit in the Rangers HQ, but upon being kicked out of that unit, he has been careening outside of time. Not only that, but he managed to end up between times, the current timeline and the dark universe timeline. Because of that, he's been watching the events of that universe play out, seeing what could have been if Tommy had stayed under Rita's grasp.
In fact, he even met the dark universe version of himself. Since he exists out of time, he was able to watch how Tommy dismantled the other Rangers, and ultimately Zordon himself. Drakkon poisoned him and then destroyed his containment unit, sending that version of Zordon outside of time as well. The two Zordon's had a chance to meet. Before this Zordon passes our Zordon asks him if he still thinks he handled Tommy the right way. The dark universe Zordon says "Things may not always go the way in which we desire, but I believe there will be enough good people making good decisions..that good will ultimately triumph over evil. Even if it is not the way we initially think. For example--everything that has happened in my world has brought you here, and as I can now see, will one day bring others."
That Zordon's death is followed by the appearance of Saba, who sought out his Zordon after he was lost to the time stream. He instead finds our Zordon, and together they come up with a plan that fans saw manifest in past issues of the Lord
