Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has won the North American box office for two consecutive weekends, but in its third week of release it could be ousted from its top spot by Melissa McCarthy's new R-rated comedy, The Boss.

After plummeting 69% in its second weekend, Batman v Superman is hoping for a softer drop this weekend. Variety predicts Zack Snyder's latest superhero film will scoop up $25M.

That should be good enough to edge out competition from The Boss, which is expected to open with $21M. However, that number is on the low-end of expectations when compared to how McCarthy's three previous comedies debuted. In June 2013, The Heat earned $39.1M in its debut weekend. Tammy opened with $21.5M in July of 2014. Last June, Spy premiered to the tune of $29M.

To be fair, all three of those films received better reviews from critics than The Boss has gotten, so far. Yes, even Tammy's god awful 23% rating surpasses The Boss's 10% rating.

If The Boss doesn't take down Batman v Superman, The Jungle Book will next weekend.

In Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
