It looks like Krypton is pretty a much a sure thing for SyFy, as the network premiered a teaser trailer for the project at the NBC Universal Upfronts today.

The series was just granted a pilot, so for SyFy to be already showing teasers for it speaks to how much confidence they have in the script and in the premise. The teaser is not yet available online, but we do know (via IGN) just what it contains.

Set in space, the House of El crest (Superman's symbol) can be seen. While the camera continues onward through space, a voiceover begins, asking "what remains when a civilization dies, pondering if their art and culture are remembered after it's all gone." As the voice continues, pieces of Krypton fly by. The flight continues, with the voice then saying "This is not the story of how our world died. This is the story of how we lived."

After the dramatic setup, images from Man of Steel can be seen, along with new footage of a man and a woman, both Kryptonian, in the midst of a battle, concluding with a message that says Krypton is coming in 2017.

The David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg written series will focus on Superman's grandfather as he attempts to rebuild the once noble house of El.
