Despite having previously said that he wasn't sure and hadn't signed any contracts, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice villain Jesse Eisenberg now says he thinks Lex Luthor will appear in an upcoming Justice League film.

Whether that's Part One, currently filming, or the second half? Well, that's still not clear.

During a talk at MCM London Comic Con recently, Eisenberg was quizzed about a possible return for Lex.

"I don't know. I am in wait. They just started filming Justice League, so I'm waiting for my crack at it," the actor said. He added, "I don't know what I'm allowed to say because I feel like there's some drone following me from DC and if I say something wrong I get picked off."

Asked directly whether he's got a role in Justice League coming up, the actor said, "I think so, and I'd love it, and I love everybody -- it's a really talented group of people, obviously -- so I certainly hope to be in it."

Eisenberg's Lex was a controversial element of Batman V Superman, with some fans being turned off by his manic portrayal and others being refreshed by its somewhat different take on the villain (although having recently rewatched Superman Returns, I kind of feel like Spacey was pretty manic and over-the-top, too).

Justice League Part One, directed by Zack Snyder, is filming now. It also stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash. Spider-Man villain Willem Dafoe has joined the cast in an as-yet-undisclosed role. Amber Heard is rumored to appear as Mera as well.

The movie is set to hit theaters on November 17, 2017 -- the twenth-fifth anniversary of the release of Superman #75, the best-selling finale to "Doomsday!: The Death of Superman."
