On Saturday, during an audience Q&A at Dallas Comic Con's 2016 Fan Expo, Candice Patton was asked how her character, Iris West, would have reacted if Barry had told her he was going to go back in the past and prevent Reverse-Flash from killing his mother.

"That's a great question. And it's interesting because they have a great relationship in which she's really supportive and loyal to Barry, and I think had he told her, she would have said exactly what she said to him on the patio of their house," Patton explained. "Which is that, 'Whatever you need to do, wherever you need to go, do it. I'll be here when you get back.' I think she would've said the exact same thing. As long as she knew he was coming back."

As you'll remember, in the final moments of the Season 2 finale of The Flash, "The Race of His Life," Iris told Barry she is ready to take their relationship out of the friend-zone, and even though Barry has been patiently waiting for this moment, he can't enjoy it because he's broken up inside about his father recently being murdered by Zoom, and he's reminded of that painful loss when he sees that the real Jay Garrick is his dad's Earth-3 doppleganger. Before Barry traveled back in time to the night of his Mother's murder, he shared a kiss with Iris, and they exchanged "I love yous."

"The Race of His Life" was directed by Antonio Negret and written by Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing.

Season 3 of The Flash will return next fall on The CW.
