About one-minute into the latest trailer for NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Injustice 2 video game, it is revealed that Black Manta, Aquaman's archenemy, is showing up in the game in some capacity. Whether he is playable or not in the game is still left to be seen, but we're sure we'll get an answer at this year's E3 conference when the game is on full display.

Black Manta was created by Bob Haney and Nick Cardy and made his first appearance in Aquaman #35 (September 1967). Ever since he was introduced, the driving force in Manta's life has been his hatred for Aquaman. He's caused a number of traumatic incidents in Aquaman's life, including the murder of his young child, Arthur Curry, Jr. – a story that had a long-lasting impact on Aquaman and the comic book industry in general given its shocking subject matter. In the New 52, Aquaman accidentally killed Black Manta's father. Manta vowed revenge and got some by killing Vostok-X, a member of the Others.

Injustice 2 continues the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us "as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman's regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth's existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis."

Injustice 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.
