Happy Birthday! Christopher Nolan Turns 46 Years Old

The time has come! It's time to wish one of the most acclaimed filmmakers a very happy birthday. Today, Christopher Nolan is turning 46-years-old.

Born in July 1970, Nolan was brought up by his parents, Brendan and Christina. The London-native grew up between the UK and Chicago. A huge fan of Star Wars, Nolan fell in love with film and even created a stop-motion animation called Space Wars. Nolan went on to study film at UCL before he went on to direct his first film. Following work on several independent films, Nolan made his big-budget debut with Insomnia in 2002.

However, Nolan is best-known for his work on The Dark Knight Trilogy. Starting in 2005, Nolan kicked off the franchise with Batman Begins and finished the trilogy out with The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. Nolan also directed blockbusters such as Inception and Interstellar. Of all his films, Nolan has grossed over $4.2 billion globally and earned a total of 26 Oscar nominations. These accomplishments have since led Nolan to become the highest-grossing filmmaker of the century. And, as most of his films focus on deep philosophical or sociological themes, many fans look up to Nolan as a trailblazing director for millennial audiences.
