Despite receiving its share of harsh reviews, Suicide Squad's box office numbers are high enough to overshadow any critic's opinion. After all, the film has only been out for less than two weeks and is already sitting with a staggering $500 million worldwide gross.

With total earnings of $509M, Suicide Squad stands to become the highest-grossing film ever at the August box office. Well, that is, if the film continues to rake in cash like it has been. Suicide Squad has already shattered several records as it holds the biggest August opening of all-time both domestically and abroad. The worldwide grossing pulled ahead of other superhero movies and their earnings after 13 days. Captain America: Civil War grossed $494M in that amount of time while Deadpool pulled in $256M. To compare Suicide Squad's grossing to other DC films, The Dark Knight had only earned $128M worldwide in 13 days. Other titles such as Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises raked in $187M and $252M respectively.

As for what's next for Suicide Squad, the film is slated to hit Germany in a few days. Sue Krolls, President of WB Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, said the movie, "is in position for another terrific weekend as our overseas expansion continues." Overseas, the film has racked up more than $271M so far. When that gross is added to Suicide Squad's $238M domestic earnings, it leaves Warner Bros. with enough revenue to make even Captain Boomerang envious.

Currently, domestic predictions expect Suicide Squad to stand as this year's fifth title to be No. 1 at the box office for three straight weekends. So far, films such as Deadpool, Zootopia, The Jungle Book, and Finding Dory have already done so.

Suicide Squad is obviously fairing well abroad given its massive grossing. The UK is contributing the most money to the cause while other countries like Brazil, Russia, Mexico, and Australia are following its lead. Surprisingly, Suicide Squad's run in Mexico and Korea has already outdone the entire lifetime gross of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. And the film's release in Russia pushed Suicide Squad overtake the country's run of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of WB Worldwide Distribution, has said, "It is incredibly rewarding to see audiences around the world coming out in such a big way for Suicide Squad. We have several major markets yet to open, and expect to continue seeing strong returns at the box office for the weeks to come."

The film's final overseas premiere will be in Japan on September 10th, and keen fans might have noticed China is missing from Suicide Squad's release calendar. The country elected to ban the PG13 film, citing its conflicting cultural views.

Suicide Squad stars talent like Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and more. The film marks one of the first films to focus primarily on comic book super-villains as the baddies are forced into a task force team sent to take care of supernatural threats. The flick was directed by David Ayer and guided by executive producers like Zack Snyder and Geoff Johns.
