Arrow Season 5 Episode 7: Vigilante Clip And Featurette Released

"Who gets to decide who's a psycho, and who's a vigilante?" That's the question tonight on Arrow as a new killer takes to the streets, taking out bad guys and ratcheting up tensions that have already been pretty high with Prometheus on the loose in Star City.

Audiences know that the culprit is Vigilante, a masked avenger from the DC Comics who will make his on-screen debut tonight.

Vigilante has, apparently, already been active in Star City in before he appears onscreen; in the Arrow season 5 premiere, Felicity and Oliver were taking a count of the city's recent influx of costumed do-gooders, and one of the police sketches seen on Felicity's screen was a George Perez drawing of Vigilante, suggesting that the hero has not only already hit the streets but that his costume will look pretty much like it did in the comics (unless that's not a very good police sketch, which is possible).

"When I watch something that's based off of literature, I'm excited to see the parts that I imagined in my head," Segarra told reporters during a visit to the set of Arrow last week. "So when I started reading Vigilante comics, there were little parts where I was like 'I hope I get to do this,' or 'I hope I get to go down this road,' and so far I'm getting to do a lot of those things."

He told ComicBook.com during the Arrow 100th episode party that they were working hard not to disappoint anybody who read the comics and had expectations for the character.

"The biggest question that I have for myself as an actor is 'why does this person become the person that they are?'" Segarra said. "So what's going to be hard is that in the middle of the season I get to introduce Vigilante. So now I'm getting to tell that backstory and we get to tell the biggest pieces and get to show him becoming who he is before episode 7."

Chase's costumed alter-ego won't appear until the next episode of Arrow, although it's likely we'll catch a glimpse of him in the teaser that runs after tonight's episode.

Of course, that's no guarantee; the episode also features the first onscreen appearance of Konstantin Kovar, played by Dolph Lundgren, so don't be too surprised if the teaser is pretty flashbacks-heavy.
