Batman V Superman's Michael Shannon Not Interested In Marvel, Star Wars Projects

Even though Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire, Midnight Special) will appear in a whopping ten films this year, the 42-year-old actor insists that he is "super-selective." To be fair, some of those movies wrapped filming long ago and are just this year seeing the light of day.

Nocturnal Animals is Shannon's latest film to hit theaters, coming out this past weekend and grossing $494K from three dozen theaters. While promoting the romantic-thriller, Shannon explained to Fandango that he'll only do a big-budget Hollywood film if he finds the story to be interesting. With Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, he had a desire to do it because its story of "a civilization that destroys the planet they live on and goes looking for another one" is relevant to our own climate change issues.

Fandango followed up by asking: "So no big Marvel or Star Wars movie for you then?"

"No, I'm not really looking for that. They called me recently about some iteration – I won't say – but some version of a movie that's been made already countless times," he revealed. "They were gonna give me a lot of of money, but I was like nah. Big movie, too. But I have to think it's an interesting story. If I don't, I can't do it. I won't do it."

Hmm. So, he turned down a Marvel or Star Wars film. Since he didn't reveal any details, I'll let you guys and gals speculate in the comment section as to what project it might be.
