After the conclusion of 'Sinestro's Law", the Green Lantern Corps and the universe as a whole is without its premiere Lantern Hal Jordan. While Hal is no longer among the living, another absent Lantern has made a surprising return.
Spoilers from here on out, so be warned.
The Guardians Ganthet and Sayd are currently living on the planet Nok, and after the events of "Sinestro's Law," the two are greeted by a power ring searching for its host. Unlike other rings, which were all made by the Guardians themselves, this ring was constructed by Hal's pure will. Seeing that this is indeed the case, the Guardians realize that the power inside is dissipating and action is needed quickly.
Ganthet talks to someone offscreen, saying "It is as we have foreseen. The tremors plaguing the green light of will. The upheaval wracking the emotional spectrum. It is why I called you to this far-flung world, torchbearer."
Those familiar with the corps will know that torchbearer refers to none other than Kyle Rayner, who is the current White Lantern. It makes sense that his power will be needed to bring Hal out of the Emerald Space.
