Warning: Spoilers ahead for tonight's episode of Arrow, titled "Bratva."
In tonight's episode of Arrow, the team got John Diggle back, but almost immediately lost another of the new team members.
After the loss of Artemis, who betrayed Team Arrow to Prometheus late last year, tonight's blow leaves just one of the "new recruits" -- who, conveniently, will be the center of next week's episode.
That's right: Ragman is out of the picture, although not because he's gone evil or because he's dead. Rory recused himself from Team Arrow after the rags that gave him his powers were seriously damaged and stopped "working."
In an odd piece of symmetry, the rags -- which protected him from nuclear annihilation at Havenrock at the end of season 4 -- were taken out by a second and much closer-range nuclear blast, with Rory essentially throwing himself on the grenade to protect other members of Team Arrow...including Felicity, who was partially responsible for the horror at Havenrock.
Without his powers, Rory thought, he's a liability to the team -- and he quit.
That said, don't count the character out just yet. In his final moments in the Arrowcave, he did once again stick his nose into Felicity's business with the black hat hackers of Helix. That's something that he had already voiced his objection to once this week, although without much effect.
Of course, it wasn't that long ago that season 4 addition Curtis Holt -- who donned a costume and went out into the field for the first time this season -- thought he was a liability to the team, too. Rene managed to walk him back from that ledge and, along with his handling of Quentin Lance this week, has evolved from being the "maniac in the hockey mask" to one of the most interesting and empathetic characters on the show. Don't be surprised when, if Rory makes his way back to Team Arrow, it's got something to do with Wild Dog.
What do you think, Arrow fans? Is this truly the last we've seen of Ragman? Chime in below.
