Early reactions to Wonder Woman are inspiringly positive, and fans are eager to see a sequel greenlit. The studio has been rather mum on the possibility, but director Patty Jenkins has some ideas for it.
The director spoke to Fandango about the possibility of a sequel, saying "It's definitely something I'm very, very, very interested. I love what we've created and I love the team that I worked with doing it and these actors so much that, yeah, we're all very excited to talk about continuing forward together."
As for what she wants to see specifically, that would be the broadening of Wonder Woman's influence around the world. "I think it's very important that she goes on to be a very international superhero," Jenkins said. "I can't wait to bring her to America as well."
As for if that will happen, Jenkins sounds hopeful, and definitely wants to explore the time between Wonder Woman and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. "It's something that one will know soon," she said. "Like, what she has been doing all of these years, but it's definitely something I have thought a lot about."
Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
