John Barrowman toots his own horn!
While appearing at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in London this past weekend, Barrowman shared a story about the making of "The Fallen," the twentieth episode of the third season of Arrow, and it is a real gas.
"Remember when Oliver was taking Thea to Nanda Parbat to resurrect her? Right, because she died? He's carrying her and he has to go up and have a conversation with Ra's al Ghul," he explained to the crowd. "However, in the background is myself, David Ramsey. And we're walking up, we have to hit a position, and we have to stop. And in that position, we have to wait until Stephen [Amell], as Oliver, stops saying the dialogue. So, we're walking up, and I'm walking, and Stephen's talking. David Ramsey's there [points to his right]. And I'm walking and I think, 'Oh, I gotta fart.' Nobody's going to hear me so I go, 'David,' under my breath. 'David, I gotta fart.' And he's like, 'Do-it, do-it-do-it.' And I'm like, 'Okay, I'll do it.' But he says, 'It better not be smelly.' I tell him, 'Mine don't smell, David.' Scene going on and we're having this conversation. So he goes, 'Just do it, do-it-do-it.' So I, 'BA-BRAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPP!'
"Malcom just sort of wafts in the background," he continued. "And I say, 'See, it doesn't smell.' He goes, 'That's amazing that it doesn't smell.' It doesn't smell. He goes, 'How come it doesn't smell?' I say, 'I don't know. It just doesn't smell like anything.' And they say, 'Cut!' and Stephen turns around and goes, 'FART IN MY MOUTH AND PROVE IT!' Having heard the whole conversation!"
The battle between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) culminates in a final epic battle on Lian Yu. After recent events, Oliver decides to recruit a group of unlikely allies – Slade (guest star Manu Bennett), Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law), Merlyn (John Barrowman) and Digger Harkness (guest star Nick. E. Tarabay) – to defeat Chase. However, Chase has his own army – Black Siren (guest star Katie Cassidy), Evelyn Sharp (guest star Madison McLaughlin) and Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig) – and the forces collide in an explosive season finale.
Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Marc Guggenheim.
