Now that Wonder Woman has finally hit theaters, fans have been paying close attention to see what DC references and Easter Eggs they can find. To be honest, there aren't very many, the movie basically stands on its own.
However, there was one small nod in the film to Superman himself. If you weren't focused, there's a good chance you could have missed it.
Just a warning, there are some Minor Wonder Woman Spoilers up ahead.
As the film heads into its second act, Steve took Diana into a store in London to try on some clothes so she could blend in. With the help of Etta Candy, they landed on a dark ensemble with a jacket and hat. This outfit was shown in quite a few trailers and teasers.
As the characters were leaving the shop, Steve made one final attempt to try and make Diana look normal, and he grabbed a pair of plain glasses off of a display. He put the glasses on Wonder Woman, and Etta made a sarcastic comment regarding the style.
The joke she was making was that a simple pair of glasses could never hide who Diana was, and anyone could still see her beauty despite them. It was an obvious reference to Superman's alter-ego Clark Kent.
People have always joked about Clark Kent's disguise, making fun of the fact that no one around him knows that he's Superman. Since he doesn't wear a mask, the only thing that differentiates Superman's face from Clark's is a simple pair of glasses. Still, no one has any idea it's him.
This reference goes even further in Wonder Woman. In the next scene, some thugs try to jump Diana and Steve in an alley. While the two are fighting them, and Diana is putting everyone to shame, her glasses fall off. The camera zooms in on them just in time to see the accessory crushed underneath someone's foot.
Notice the jab there? This was kind of a way of saying, "Superman may need that silly disguise, but Wonder Woman doesn't." It was a little one-up of sorts, simply saying that Wonder Woman is the best around.
After seeing the movie, most folks will have a tough time disagreeing.
