Dark Nights: Metal is introducing twisted, alternate versions of Bruce Wayne to the DC Universe, and one of them is a Batman/Joker mashup who comes complete with his own set of maniac Robins.

Dark Nights: Metal #2 sees the first appearance of the Dark Knights, a sort of "Justice League" composed solely of evil Bruce Waynes: there's The Drowned (Aquaman), The Red Death (Flash), The Murder Machine (Cyborg), The Dawnbreaker (Green Lantern), and even a Doomsday Batman. When the characters step out of the Dark Multiverse in front of Wonder Woman and Superman, the heroes are faced with Batman's worst nightmare: The Batman Who Laughs, a figure who's part Batman, part Joker, part BDSM fan.

Worse still, The Batman Who Laughs accessorizes with a trio of Joker-ized Robins attached to him by way of chain leashes, like a messed up Hewey, Duey and Louie. The villain, real name Bruce Wayne, crossed over into the real Batman's world and immediately began causing havoc: he approached some of Gotham City's most well-known rogues — Bane, the Riddler, Mister Freeze, Poison Ivy, Firefly and Mad Hatter — equipping them with reality-altering cards that gave the villains the power to rule over different sections of the city.

"You're thinking that this is impossible," The Man Who Laughs teases. "You see my height, my build, you hear my voice, and you know who I am… you know I am Batman. But you also know that I'm not. You know that I am something twisted and wrong, and that terrifies you."

Artist Jason Fabok released a look at his cover for The Batman Who Laughs #1, highlighting the villain-bent Batman and a triumvirate of creepy little Robins. The issue, scripted by James T Tynion IV and pencilled by Riley Rossmo, hits store shelves November 15.
