Jared Leto his just stated that reports he sent his Suicide Squad co-stars used condoms while in character as The Joker are "total bullsh-."

And yet, as you can see in the video above, it was Leto himself who stated to E! News last year during press interviews for Suicide Squad that he had not only sent his castmates used condoms (adding "at least they were used") but also anal beads as well!

The latest denial of those actions took place during a special EW radio spotlight that Leto did to promote his new film, Blade Runner 2049. During that broadcast, Leto stated that when it came to reports of his strange behavior on the Suicide Squad set:

"Most of it was total bullsh–.... Like that I was giving used condoms to people, which was not true. It doesn't matter how loud you shout or hold up a sign with your pants off in Times Square — people will run the story that they want."

Actors aren't exactly known for the forthcoming natures and honesty; Hollywood is a game of image, and while Leto may have thought that he would get some acting cred for going full method to play Joker, the lukewarm reception of the character may have just left him feeling vulnerable about all the bizarre effort he put into it.

Or maybe the opposite is true: Maybe Leto was just messing with inquiring reporters and fans by exaggerating his method to play Joker. The only problem with that theory is that his Suicide Squad co-stars (Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne) have already told their own stories of getting things like dead rats and pigs from Leto, so the condom thing doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

Leto was also willing to pass off accountability onto others, stating in the EW radio interview: "People were thrilled to [get] them. Whatever the Joker would give, was the idea. I didn't really even put them together, basically. It was my team and my assistant. We were all having fun with it. It was really touching."

Ah yes, the sentimentality of getting dead animals from a co-worker pretending to by a psychotic clown, 24/7...

Meanwhile, Jared Leto is gearing up to return to his Joker role for both Suicide Squad 2 and the Joker and Harley Quinn spinoff film.
