Things You May Have Missed in the Justice League Teaser Trailer
The third trailer for Justice League is set to drop tomorrow morning but a teaser with new, [...]
The blue sky is now red
When we first saw Batman swinging into battle the sky was a dark and moody blue, however in the teaser trailer that same sky is now red. It's a really cool effect making things look even more oppressive and dire, but it also has some fans wondering if that red sky is means that the heroes aren't on Earth anymore. That's right, that red sky could be an indication that the Justice League is fighting for the fate of the world on Apokolips or trying to prevent Earth from turning into its clone.
OTHER: Batman Swinging At Parademons comparison from DC_Cinematic
In DC Comics, Apokolips is the planet ruled by Darkseid as established in Jack Kirby's Fourth World comic book series. The large planet is, essentially, one large city with burning fire pits and is only accessible via boom tube. With Steppenwolf arriving on Themyscira using a Boom Tube and with the movie's big bad also being Darkseid's uncle in comics it's definitely possible that the heroes end up on Apokolips. Or, more likely, that Steppenwolf is trying to create Apokolips on Earth.
prevnextIs that the Mobius Chair?
In the same red sky scene where Batman is swinging into action, some fans over in Reddit's DC Cinematic community noticed something a little more interesting than the Dark Knight moving through the sky. To the left of the screen, it appears only very briefly but as you can see from the still screen capture below there appears to be a chair of sorts just casually falling towards the ground seemingly out of nowhere. While a few fans have suggested that maybe the chair-like item is an ejection seat that Batman used to get out of the Flying Fox, given that we've got Steppenwolf coming to Earth for Mother Boxes it would make sense that another interdimensional mode of transportation with ties to the Fourth World might make an appearance.
SPECULATION: Is That The Mobius Chair? from DC_Cinematic
In comics, the chair is created by Mobius -- perhaps better known as the Anti-Monitor -- that he used in his quest for knowledge. The chair is capable of travelling and teleporting through space, time and even other dimensions at lighting speed, but it can do a lot more. It has functions similar to those of a Mother Box in that it can allow its rider to survive space and other environments, contains all the knowledge of the New God and even has a handy force field that it can use to protect itself from attack as well as stop enemies.
prevnextThe tentacle creatures
Continuing in the theme of "is this Apokolips?" the other detail spotted in the Justice League teaser are the tentacle creatures that appear in the scene with the city on fie and the tower-like structure collapsing. Fans in the Reddit community suggested that those odd tentacle creatures might actually be Ash Crawlers. In comics the octopus-like animals live in the planet's Fire-Pits where they feed on the intense heat. The creatures are said to be hugely powerful and can use their tentacles to ensnare anyone, a skill they use in their surprise attacks as they drop silently from height onto their targets.
THEORY: About the creatures with tentacles. What are your thoughts on it? from DC_Cinematic
It's worth noting that if the creatures are, in fact, Ash Crawlers this could also tie into some other fan-sleuthing in promotional images from Justice League. On a screen behind Wonder Woman a fan noticed what appeared to be images of a derelict amusement park. That amusement park? It happened to be the one located in Pripyat, Ukraine, the city perhaps best known for being impacted by the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear reactor in 1986. The home of a catastrophic nuclear accident would be hot enough to make an Ash Crawler feel right at home. The images in the teaser look an awful lot like the Chernobyl power plant, too.
