The quest to stop Jack The Ripper is underway as a brand new trailer shows what's in store for Batman in Gotham By Gaslight.
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is based on the Elseworlds tale of the same name, which features a version of Bruce Wayne adopting the cape and cowl to take down the serial killer that's been plaguing the women of Gotham City. That would be Jack the Ripper, and if the trailer is any indication, it seems he'll be a worthy opponent.
The new footage also reveals that Batman won't be alone in his mission to find the killer, as Selina Kyle will also be an instrumental part of the film. She'll even have her trademark whip, and it will probably come in handy seeing as she will have to help break Bruce out of prison.

While the animated film is based on the original source material, creative director of animation at DC Entertainment Mike Carlin let fans know that there are still a few surprises planned. "If you read the original graphic novel, you're still gonna be surprised by this movie. If you think you've seen it all as far as Batman is concerned, you haven't, because you gonna see this and say, 'Now I have,' until the next Elseworld we do."
Executive producer Bruce Timm also teases a much more human Batman. "It's not like a really super tight fitting costume like we're used to seeing Batman in," Timm said. "Just the idea that you can actually see Batman's eyes through those big goggles rather than the squinty eyes he normally has kind of gives him a completely different aspect than you're used to seeing.
The original Gotham by Gaslight was released in 1989 and was written by Brian Augustyn and drawn by Mike Mignola with inking by P. Craig Russell. It wasn't actually considered an Elseworlds tale at the time, but since is considered part of the Elseworlds family.
Batman: Gotham By Gaslight releases on DVD and Blu-ray in 2018.
