'Justice League' Star Says 'Flashpoint' Will Tear Apart The DC Universe

Flashpoint has been a long work in in progress for Warner Bros. DC Films is busy with Justice League right now, but the Flash's solo film isn't far off its mind. During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Ezra Miller opened up about how Flashpoint will affect the DC Cinematic Universe, and the actor told fans to expect some big things.

Miller told EW at San Diego Comic Con that his standalone would do crazy things to the DCEU.

"What fans understand when they hear Flashpoint," Miller teased, "would be almost like hearing a word like 'Crisis.' We start to understand that our precious DC universe will inevitably be torn asunder to an endless, headache-inducing fabric of multiversality. The DC Hyper-Extended Multiverse, as I plan to call it. Quote me!"

If you are familiar with the Flashpoint comic run, then you can understand why Miller is adamant about the film's impact. The story debuted in 2011 and ran for five issues under writer Geoff Johns and artist Andy Kubert. Flashpoint follows Barry Allen after the hero messes with his time line and causes an unprecedented ripple effect. Allen wakes up in a world where his mother is alive, Batman is actually Thomas Wayne, and Wonder Woman is at war with Aquaman. The hero must then find a way to fix his alteration but repairing a time line is much more difficult than breaking it in the first place.

According to Johns, the DC creator and film executive says his live-action take on Flashpoint will cover ground no other adaptation has before.

"There's elements in it that we're going to be playing into that we couldn't do anywhere else," Johns explained. "The scale of it, the Batman story of it all."

So, who knows? Maybe DC Films will convince Jeffrey Dean Morgan to reprise his role as the Wayne patriarch and suit up as Batman in his son's stead.

Justice League is now in theaters; Aquaman arrives on December 21, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Wonder Woman 2 on November 1st, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020.
