Justice League managed to sell quite a few tickets on Thursday night, but not nearly as many as Warner Bros. was probably hoping for.

DC's team-up film raked in $13 million on its preview night, which sounds pretty impressive when that's the only number you look at. However, Wonder Woman, who is one of six members of the Justice League, earned $11 million with her solo film in its Thursday night debut. While the Justice League may have six times as many popular characters as Wonder Woman did, the mighty Amazon is a much more powerful force on her own.

What's even more disappointing is that Justice League was beaten by rival Marvel's latest outing, Thor: Ragnarok. The third Thor film earned $14.5 on Thursday night just two weeks ago.

With that Thursday night performance, Justice League will likely still win the weekend box office. Unfortunately, the numbers aren't nearly as strong as the studio had hoped. It certainly has an uphill battle to climb at this point.

For now, it looks as though Wonder Woman will remain the crown box office jewel for the DC Extended Universe, and Thor: Ragnarok will still be this fall's money-making champion.
