While there's a lot going on in the Call of Duty world between the forthcoming WWII and the recently announced Zombies Chronicles for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, that doesn't mean that Infinite Warfare is being left out in the cold. In fact, it appears that a new mode is about to enter testing with the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

Charlie Intel has reported that the team at Infinity Ward has begun rolling out a beta to introduce GameBattles integration into its game. This feature was previously mentioned during an investor call with Activision Blizzard way back in November 2016, but it looks like it's finally happening.

So how does GameBattles work? Well, according to a press release from the company, here's the full skinny:

"Over the course of this beta, GameBattles competitors will have access to an updated feature set that will include automatic lobby creation with specific ruleset, maps and modes, as well as post-game match reporting directly from the game." So it definitely looks to lean more towards the competitive side of things.

It's unknown just how widespread the beta is at this point, or whether everyone will be able to test it in multiplayer or not (it's more than likely going to happen soon enough), but those that get access will be able to take part in various Tournaments and Ladders while it's running, as those features have kicked off today. Furthermore, layers that link their GameBattles accounts to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will get a free animated calling card for their trouble, which players will be able to see in-game. And once the account is registered, all the aforementioned features should open up.

It's a good way to keep Infinite Warfare's multiplayer relevant, even as players flock back to Black Ops III to kill zombies, or get excited to see WWII's multiplayer in action, which promises more "boots to the ground" based gameplay. Hopefully, we'll see some GameBattles integration with that title down the road as well, especially considering its immiment popularity.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
