Mojang's best-selling hit Minecraft recently made its way to the Nintendo Switch, and while millions of fans will no doubt indulge in its many adventures, there's one minor hiccup that they'll have to overcome – the game's resolution.

Even though the game looks just fine running on the Switch in both handheld and TV mode, it actually runs at 720p, instead of the usual 1080p standard. Some believe this is due to the lack of processing muscle in the system itself, but Microsoft, the company that owns Mojang, has since spoken up on the matter.

Talking with Time, the company noted that the change of resolution comes from docking and undocking the system itself. "Microsoft notes that Minecraft's 720p docked/undocked resolution isn't a question of system power, but stems from issues currently experienced shifting from one resolution to the other when docking/undocking. It's possible, albeit not confirmed, that Minecraft for Switch could hit 1080p docked down the road."

That "down the road" confirmation could come in the form of a patch, though Microsoft stopped just short of officially announcing one. That's not to say it's the end of the world for fans of the game, though. Thus far, it still runs very smoothly, and has a number of features that fans will no doubt love, whether they're playing in the comfort of their home, or taking the system on the road. Plus the price isn't too shabby at all either – something Minecraft fans have become very accustomed to.

The game features a variety of content that players can dig into, and there will more than likely be updates that not only fix the minor squabble with resolution, but add extra content to the game as well. At least, that's how it worked for other versions of the game, so we don't see why the Nintendo Switch would be any different. We'll see what the future holds over the next few weeks, or what Microsoft officially announces.

In the meantime, if you're looking to get some traction out of your Switch, this is one of the better games to do it with.

Minecraft: Switch Edition is available now.
