Mobile gamers who are familiar with the Terminator franchise can now take their robotic conflicts on the go with the release of mobile game developer Plarium's most recent game Terminator Genisys: Future War.

First revealed back in 2016 roughly a year after the release of the movie Terminator Genisys, the clan-based MMO mobile game ties in with the story of the movie. Within the game, players have the option of siding with either the hostile, artificial intelligence-based Skynet or the virtuous Resistance to engage in some faction-against-faction combat. Terminator Genisys: Future War is the first game in the Terminator series to allow players to choose between the two rival teams.

As a continuation of the movie Terminator Genisys, the mobile strategy game expands on the conclusion of the film as Resistance and Skynet forces battle to lay claim to the dwindling resources and weapons that were left in the aftermath. According to Plarium, combining the recent Terminator movie with their mobile game interests was an easy decision.

"Pairing the Terminator Genisys universe with Plarium's advanced strategy gameplay was one of the most natural creative decisions we've made because the franchise aligns so well with our core game mechanics," said Gabi Shalel, CMO of Plarium. "From the epic scale of the game to the diverse weaponry, futuristic technology and ability to play as 'good' or 'evil', this is the experience Terminator fans have always wanted."

The game does seem to include quite a bit of diverse character choices with 48 different 3D units, 24 each for the Resistance and Skynet, used to battle against other players to obtain resources and additional reinforcements. The units are divided up into six different classes: Infantry, Assault, Cavalry, Aviation, Siege units, and Spy Drones. Players have the option to either join a clan to cooperate with other players worldwide or start their own clan and begin amassing their forces with other players.

While PvP combat is most emphasized — winning clan-based tournaments can grant impressive rewards — there's also benefits to engaging in PvE gameplay. Players can earn rewards such as crafting components, technologies, and bonuses that can be combined in the game's crafting system.

Terminator Genisys: Future War is currently available for iOS and Android devices in the App Store and on Google Play.
