Sonic Mania’s Release Date Seemingly Leaks Via Its Own Steam Page

Apparently Sonic has been hitting the chili dogs a little too hard, because the blue hedgehog's latest retro adventure is taking longer to arrive that many fans hoped it would. Originally, the old-school Sega Genesis throwback Sonic Mania was supposed to arrive sometime this spring, but back in March the game got pushed back to a vague summer release date.

Summer could mean any time between July 1 and September 31, but Amazon recently sent out emails that indicated the game may arrive on September 4, which is entirely too long to wait. Come on, Sega – stop jerking us around! Sonic fans aren't exactly known for their patience!

Well, you can officially stop frowing and tapping your foot. Another possible Sonic Mania release date has leaked, and thankfully, this one arrives a bit sooner. Late last week, a new Sonic Mania trailer went up on the game's various European Steam pages and, surprise, it included a release date of August 15 tacked on to the end! These trailers have since been yanked down, but the Internet never forgets. It particularly never forgets anything Sonic related. Check out a screenshot of the German Sonic Mania Steam page, below:

I know we've been here before, but this Sonic Mania date is more believable than some past ones that have popped up. This isn't a leak from some random retailers, this a date attached to a trailer which Sega themselves posted to Steam. Could Sonic Mania be delayed again? Absolutely, but as of right now, August 15 seems like a plausible release date. Oh, and you never know – the Amazon date could be correct, too. Maybe the digital version of Sonic Mania will release on August 15, and the physical collector's edition will arrive in September? Come on Sega, clear all this up for us!
