We're not sure what would prompt someone to drop a fancy piece of electronics from 1,000 feet in the air – maybe they're just curious to see what it looks like when it shatters into a million pieces. Regardless, a YouTuber by the name of UnlockRiver.com decided they wanted to give it a try – with the Nintendo Switch.

Yep, you read that correctly. Despite the abundant amount of great games out and coming to Nintendo's latest system, this YouTuber felt compelled to drop the system from 1,000 feet up, as if they were curious about their durability. You can watch the video above, but, we assure you, the effect certainly isn't pretty.

However, it seems kind of surprising how things ended up. The system actually didn't burst into pieces when it hit the ground. Instead, it bounced right off the cement, going across some grass, and then going back onto the cement. The only thing that ended up getting damaged with it was one of the Joy-Con controllers, which ripped apart a bit.

Now, here's the really surprising part. After the drop test, UnlockRiver.com decided to try and turn the system on – and it came on What's more, there was barely any sort of scratch to the screen, despite the fact that it was just dropped from a few freakin' thousand feet in the air.

Again, we're not sure what the purpose of this video was – to test the durability of the system, to perhaps provide a response that UnlockRiver.com was a PS4 fan instead, or just some plain weird morbid fantasy come to life – but it's interesting that the system took minimal damage after being dropped from a thousand feet in the air. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with their intricate parts, probably would've broken apart a whole lot more.

Whatever the case, if you're curious – or just want to see the Nintendo Switch suffer because you haven't quite been able to get your hands on one – watch the video above with a sadistic grin. Who knows, these guys just might try it again with the Project Scorpio. (Well, if it's affordable, anyway.)
