Pokemon Go is getting an official event in Chacago. Niantic Labs announced "Pokemon Go Fest," a one day event in Chicago taking place on July 22nd. A press release announcing the event states that the "fun-filled day of Pokémon GO in the park will give Trainers the chance to meet fellow players and engage in a variety of activities."

The press release also stated that future events will be taking place in the United States, Europe and Japan later this summer, including an event held at Yokohama's annual Pikachu Outbreak festival.

Curiously, players will have to pay for Pokemon Go Fest, although it's unclear how much tickets will cost.

Full details about the event are a bit scarce. The event will take place at Chicago's Grant Park, a large park used to host festivals and major concerts. The event's website doesn't list any other details, but a promotional image does show a Heracross lurking in the background, so it's possible that the event will give players a chance to catch regional Pokemon that aren't usually found in North America.

The website's promo image also shows Snorlax, Unown, Larvitar, and Togepi, which could be a hint at some of the other Pokemon that will appear at the event.

Niantic hasn't given any indication that Legendary Pokemon will be involved in Pokemon GO Fest. Players have long speculated that Niantic would throw a major live event to release its first Legendary Pokemon into the game.

For those traveling to the event, Pokemon Go has teamed up with the Fairmont Chicago and Swissotel so players can get a discounted hotel rate while supplies last.

Although Niantic declined to give any more details about the event, fans can sign up to get more emails about the event at its webpage.
